Kinser Claims I-96 Victory
Friday, 25 July 2008 - Lake Odessa, MI

Steve Kinser claimed his fourth win of the 2008 season by leading all but one lap in Friday night’s World of Outlaws event at I-96 Raceway in Lake Odessa, MI. Kinser was fast all night long and, as he sat on the pole of the A-Feature, was certainly the car to beat. Craig Dollansky put Kinser to the test until he tangled with a lapped car on lap 14. Kinser was able to avoid the accident and continued on to take his #11 Q-Oil Maxim to victory lane. read more

Kinser Overcomes Kings Royal Showdown
Steve Kinser made a thrilling comeback from 18th to 5th during the turbulent 25th running of Eldora Speedway’s Kings Royal. Kinser was cheered on by the support of nearly the entire crowd after World of Outlaw officials made a questionable call during time-trials. It was far from the first of disputable calls made by Outlaw officials this season. Outlaw officials allowed Donny Schatz an additional lap of qualifying, after he had taken two laps and timed in 20th, citing interference during Schatz’s first lap. Tempers flared in the pits, as nearly everyone demanded an explanation. Kinser had even more reason to question the call, as he was knocked from the inversion. read more

Mechanical Trouble Shorts Kinser at Attica, Eldora
Consistency has been the missing link for Steve Kinser so far this season. After scoring his second win of the 2008 Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Series Season last Monday, he felt like his team had gained some solid momentum underneath them. The #11 Q Oil Maxim looked like it would continue its dominance until motor problems took them out of Friday’s race at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, OH. In hopes of salvaging their week-end, Kinser and his team made their way to Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, OH on Saturday. Problems started early for the team, when they car would not fire for hot-laps. The team rushed to both identify and repair the problem. The team continued to be a step behind, finally concluding the night with a 12th-place finish in the 30-lap A-Feature. read more

Kinser Scores Second Win at Rolling Wheels
Steve Kinser has stressed the importance of qualifying night and night again. Monday night he proved just how significant qualifying is when he not only set Quick Time, but also won his heat race from the outside second row, and led every lap of the night’s A-Feature to take the Memorial Day Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws victory at Rolling Wheels Raceway. Kinser had just come off a seventh and an eleventh place finish on Friday and Saturday. He was confident that he had a strong car underneath him, but he just wasn’t getting himself in a position where he could win races, because he had lacked the qualifying effort needed to do so. read more

Week-End Results Have Kinser Charged up for Monday
Weather conditions continued to torment the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Series when Night Two at Williams Grove Speedway was cancelled due to heavy rain falling during heat races. Mother Nature didn’t hold back any to begin the next week, as the Outlaws were forced to postpone Monday’s scheduled event at Orange County Fair Speedway, in Middletown, NY, to September 24th. Fortunately, the weather conditions lifted and the Outlaws were able to complete both Friday night’s show at The Dirt Track @ Lowes Motor Speedway in Concord, NC, and Saturday’s show at the Virginia Motor Speedway up in Jamaica, VA. After struggling through both nights, Steve Kinser had to convince himself that even Friday’s seventh and Saturday’s eleventh-place finishes were better than watching it rain and not being able to race at all. read more

Rain Shortens Eldora Opener, Kinser Finishes Sixth Friday
The Advanced Auto Parts World of Outlaws first visit to Eldora Speedway this year was shortened due to unfavorable weather conditions on Saturday. While weather has already eliminated two week-ends of racing so far this season, the Outlaws were fortunate to get in Friday night’s event. After qualifying 21st of the 30 car field, Steve Kinser wouldn’t have minded if the rain started falling then. With a clear forecast ahead the rest of the evening, Kinser and his crew suppressed all frustrations to go on to make the most of the remaining race program. Track conditions were hard on tires. There were five cautions thrown when tires blew. The high number of yellows caused fuel to become an issue in the final laps. Fortunately, Kinser’s team made the right tire choice and had just enough fuel to bring his #11 Q-Powered Maxim to a solid 6th place finish. read more

Kinser Takes 12th at I-55, Looks to Eldora for First '08 Win
After nearly a whole month off from racing, Steve Kinser was finally back in racing action at I-55 Speedway on Saturday night. Kinser has been anxious to get this race season rolling, but still fell short of his desired results, when he finished the A-Feature event with a 12th place finish. Kinser continued to be haunted by the pill draw for qualifying order. Kinser’s late time-trial resulted in 16th quick-time, which doomed Kinser’s chance at his first win of the 2008 World of Outlaws season. Kinser attempted to recover from qualifying, but struggled to keep control of the car throughout the night’s main event. read more

Following Three Rain-Outs, Kinser Takes Sixth at Manzi
Steve Kinser has now embarked on the 2008 Advanced Auto Parts World of Outlaws season and he can describe it in one word, ‘slow.’ That’s not in reference to his race performance; it defines the pace of the Outlaw schedule. Kinser is currently in his 28th season with the Outlaws and he doesn’t remember a season that has started this way. After starting the season in Florida on February 8, rain cancelled a one-day show in Magnolia, MS and a two-day show in Tulare, CA the following week-ends. Kinser was finally able to get out on the track at Manzanita Speedway for one night of racing March 1st in Phoenix, AZ. Kinser was eager to race, especially with the desire to gain back some lost ground from unfortunate mishaps encountered in the Outlaw season opener. read more

Kinser Struggles Through Outlaw Season Opener
The Advanced Auto Parts World of Outlaws began their 2008 season at the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, FL with three nights of racing, which began on Friday, February 8th. Steve Kinser and his race team arrived in Florida early to participate in three days of racing, hosted by the All-Star Circuit of Champions, which led the three days of Outlaw competition. Kinser tested some different set-ups during the All-Star events and was feeling confident with the car when he arrived at the track Friday afternoon. Things didn’t go well, as elements that were out of control of Kinser and the team left them with two 19th-place finishes in the first two races. The team had to bring out a second car for the final night of racing and they were able to end the week-end with a strong run and a solid 5th-place finish. read more

Kinser Kicks Off 2008 with Victory at Parramatta
Steve Kinser’s 2007 race season was possibly one of the most frustrating seasons that he has endured throughout his spectacular 34 year racing career. Kinser and his crew have been determined not to let their slew of bad luck seep over into their upcoming 2008 season, and they certainly got off to the right start when they took the New Years Day win at Parramatta City Raceway, where Kinser is currently running his 2007-08 Australian Tour. After placing two consecutive runner-up finishes in the first two races at Parramatta, Kinser came out strong for the third. He was the man to beat as he lined his #11 Q-Oils Maxim for the A-feature. Kinser took the lead from pole-sitter, Kerry Madsen, as they completed lap 12. Kinser completed the remaining 18 laps virtually unchallenged.

Kinser Begins His 2007-08 Australian Tour
Steve Kinser’s current 2007-08 Australian Tour includes nine races in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, at Parramatta City Raceway Park. Kinser arrived to Sydney on December 20 and has since competed in two races and has collected two second-place finishes. In his first race, which took place on Boxing Day (December 26th), Kinser flatly expressed that was he was off his game. Kinser was back on the track in three days and was on the hunt to occupy the top spot of the podium but problems in the night’s dash set Kinser eighth on the starting grid of the A-feature, strongly decreasing the likelihood of a win. Kinser and Danny Lasoski put on a thrilling display, as the two battled side-by-side throughout the final half of the race. Lasoski took possession of the low line, while Kinser just barely held onto the lead along the top line. Kinser’s margin of victory over Lasoski was just .020 seconds. Kinser’s crew built new cars for the final week-end of racing, and it looks like they paid off.

Another Winless Week-end Comes and Goes
It was another average week-end for the Steve Kinser Racing team, as they posted an 11th-place finish at Manzanita Speedway on Friday and a 9th-place finish at Perris Auto Speedway on Saturday night. Kinser was less pleased when an early race spin on Friday took away his chance at his tenth win of the season. Kinser felt like he had a car that was capable of winning the race, which he felt was more important than the win. Kinser's team has been hard at work and testing out different things. Kinser’s crew chief, Scott Gerkin, has been at home working on motors and helping Steve’s brother, Randy, prepare for next year. With the team’s decision that Gerkin was needed more at home, Mike Cool has been out helping Kinser on the road and accompanied them again this week-end. read more

The 2007 World of Outlaws season continued to near its end, as Steve Kinser and the Outlaws concluded another week of racing on Sunday night at Charter Raceway Park. After his son, Kraig, won the season finale for the All-Stars Circuit of Champions series on Saturday night, Kinser thought the morale boost would be beneficial entering Sunday’s event. After Kinser qualified 16th of the 31 car field, the opportunity of victory looked bleak. Still, Kinser made a valid effort from there out, and almost turned the night around when he advanced from 6th to 3rd during his heat race, missing the night’s Crane Cams Dash by one spot. read more

Officiating Issues Leave Kinser Full of Frustrations
Over the past several decades, Steve Kinser’s involvement in the sport of sprint car racing has escalated him to the top of his field. Kinser has gained considerable knowledge and even more success throughout his career. His intensity is always intimidating at the track, and it comes as a shock just how mellow of a guy Steve really is. Still, even in his subdued state, Kinser reflects the devotion for the sport he loves. It is very rare to hear Kinser speak out in a negative manner. One issue that Kinser has mentioned occasionally this year is his disapproval of the World of Outlaws’ 2007 race format, and after Wednesday night’s show in Cottage Grove, OR, Kinser felt that is was time to confront the issue further.
